Update about App, KS, and Launch Date!
We at Guildhall Studios are eternally grateful for the love and support that our community has shown us, even since the beginning. After seeing all of your feedback, we have decided to double down. We are committed to delivering you all an excellent play experience. Through buckets of blood, sweat, and tears, we have spent the last year improving the app, the rulebook and the other play materials for the game we know you love just as much as us.
I am excited to say that the new App has reached content parity with the original App, and I believe that it offers a much better experience than the original in several key areas. The user interface has been substantially improved throughout the App including better adventure selection, the ability to return to the Captain select screen, a ship’s log that displays all the adventures you’ve had so far, and many other areas. The new App brings together different player’s storylines in a much more impactful way than the old App did. Additionally, getting a secondary lover and becoming an ally with a faction has become standardized. In the old App you needed to obtain a random story, but now you can race toward these goals in every game.
More adventure content will be added over the upcoming weeks, but I really encourage you to download and play the App now. It is available to all on PC, Mac and Android devices via this link, iPhone users will use this TestFlight link, (if you have downloaded it before and your client does not auto-update, you will need to download the newest version).
New Faction Select Screen!
We believe the SoL v2 app is already providing an enjoyable and overall superior game experience when compared with the original app. We are committed to delivering you this improved experience, but it is not entirely bug free just yet. While most of the systemic issues have been resolved, there are still some outstanding problems which we are currently debugging.
One area in particular that still needs attention is our postscript system for more interactive adventures. As we have discussed in previous updates, the App now has a very sophisticated state engine to track characters and interactions between players. This means that there are unique edge cases that will surface only under specific sets of circumstances. As we are only a small company, we need your help to reach the high volume of players using and testing the App to uncover each and every one of those edge cases. This is another reason we strongly encourage our community members to play with the new App. Every pair of eyes on the App helps us to track down and resolve the remaining issues.
New Player Interruption Example!
We are very excited about the upcoming Kickstarter on August 23rd for the new expansion. We wanted to get the App up on the public app stores before the campaign launch, but like everything else app related, testing is taking much longer than anticipated. While the App is currently available for you to play in all formats, we don’t think that it will make it to App stores before the 23rd. While we wanted to have the app in the app stores in advance of the upcoming Kickstarter, we do not feel it is ready to leave what we consider an Early Access state.
We hope that you enjoy the changes we have made to the game over the past year. We will continue to pour more dedication, hard work, and investment into making Sea of Legends better and better.
