Ahoy there! We have a couple of quick updates today. We have some disappointing news about the release of the Sea of Legends App, but we also have a preview of the Bob Kehl Captain assets to share.
Sea of Legends App
First things first, in our last update, we shared the following news:
“The official Sea of Legends App will be making its grand debut on the App Store and Google Play Store on the week of April 10th to April 14th. So be sure to keep a weather eye out for it! Let's raise the anchor and set sail together!”
While we have gathered some very valuable - and very appreciated - feedback from the community, we’ve identified several issues that need to be resolved before the app is ready to set sail. We’ve been working hard to stick to the planned release this week, but in addition to the normal hurdles for our QA and engineering teams, our lead developer has been down and out for most of the past week. Unfortunately, this all means we will be missing our promised release. The Sea of Legends App v2 will not be on the app stores this week.
As we get back to full strength, our Sea of Legends team and our Endless Adventures partners are focused on getting these issues resolved as quickly as possible to clear the way for a safe and successful launch. We will update you as soon as we have a new launch date.
Bob Kehl Captains
Second things second, several of you lovely people have been asking about the Bob Kehl Captains, so we wanted to share with you some more details, including the card assets you’ll be receiving, along with another good look at the miniatures.
As a quick refresher, the Bob Kehl Captain Set features eight Captains sculpted from Bob Kehl’s legendary pirate art. The Captain Abilities for each Bob Kehl Captain are copied and renamed from the original Sea of Legends and Rise of the Ancients Captains. The set includes 8 Captain miniatures, 8 Captain cards, and all the tokens needed to play each Captain. The Bob Kehl Captain Set was available as an add-on during the Sea of Legends: Vengeance of the Empires Kickstarter campaign and is currently available via the pledge manager and Pre-order store.
Avril
It’s nearly impossible to beat Avril in a treasure hunt. Naysayers will tell you she’s a cheat, but It matters not if she got the treasure via talent or magical treasure map. Finders keepers, and to Avril go the spoils.

Legendary Captain Ability

Drea
While Drea’s few surviving foes can’t agree whether her sabers are named Slice and Tear, Rip and Dice, or some other combination of slashing and maimery, they can agree on one thing – Drea’s sabers are not something you want to be on the slashy-slicey side of.

Captain Ability
Slice and Dice: For every [CI] assigned, gain 1 Strength.
Legendary Captain Ability
Rip and Tear: For every [CI] assigned, gain 2 Strength.
Gretta
Don’t let the sweet smile or the adorable owl companion fool you - Gretta is one of the most devious pirates to ever sail the seas. Her tome is filled with forbidden pirate techniques like kindness, friendship, and remembering birthdays - quite useful for making loyal companions of her crew.

Captain Ability:
Lend Me a Hand: For every [CI] assigned, draw 1 Crew card. Then hire 1 of the drawn Crew for free.
Legendary Captain Ability
True Companions: For every [CI] assigned, draw 1 Crew card. Then hire up to 2 of the drawn Crew for free.
Kyler
In spite of the odds, Kyler always manages to get the job done. Some say he’s a nobleman born under a fated star and destined for greatness. But the truth is, he’s just really, really lucky. And he knows how to cheat at dice.

Captain Ability:
Always Lucky: For every [CI] assigned, change the face of any one Bonus die.
Legendary Captain Ability
It's Just Fate: For every [CI] assigned, change the face of any 1 die.
Mila
Nefarious rogues, dastardly scoundrels - they all have nothing on Mila’s ability to earn a few coins in even the direst of straits. All it takes is a snap of her fingers and coins just seem to fall into Mila’s hands.

Captain Ability
Collect: For every [CI] assigned, gain 2 gold.
Legendary Captain Ability
Profit: For every [CI] assigned, gain 2 gold and gain 1 Strength.
Odessa
No one knows better than Odessa that you need a multi-step plan to solve complex problems. It just so happens that Odessa’s plan is a furious, rising crescendo of pistol fire culminating in an onslaught of cannon blasts. Apparently, it solves almost every problem.
Starting Location: St. John
Captain Ability:
Rising Fury: For every [CI] assigned, gain 1 Onslaught token. You may discard 2 Onslaught tokens to gain 1 Strength.
Legendary Captain Ability:
Relentless Onslaught: For every [CI] assigned, gain 1 Onslaught token. You may discard 1 Onslaught token to gain 1 Strength.
Pickwick
The only thing more fearsome than Pickwick’s hook, impressive bulk, or massive ringed blade is his scathing, disappointed gaze that he directs upon both his foes and his lazy crew. Oh. And the terrible wrath of the mad-eyed, curmudgeonly dodo he keeps as a pet.

Captain Ability
Withering Gaze: For every [CI] assigned, Refresh 1 Crew.
Legendary Captain Ability
Wrath of the Dodo: For every [CI] assigned, Refresh 1 Crew and gain 1 Strength.
Shandy
Shandy merely has to pull out a bottle of her homemade palm wine to call on the aid of her monkey comrades. The only downside? Shandy never quite knows what business her monkey friends are going to get into in their effort to help her.

Captain Ability
Monkey Business: Before a Challenge, discard the top card from the Crew deck. For every [CI] assigned, activate an ability from 1 of the last 3 discarded Crew.
Legendary Captain Ability
Power of Friendship: Before a Challenge, discard the top card from the Crew deck. For every [CI] assigned, activate an ability from any discarded Crew.
